About Property Taxes in Wyoming
Wyoming has among the lowest effective property tax rates in the United States. The state levies no income tax, but its abundant natural resource revenues (oil, gas, coal, minerals) reduce the burden on property taxpayers significantly. Property taxes are administered at the county level. Residential property is assessed at 9.5% of market value, while commercial property is assessed at 11.5%. Wyoming's combination of low assessment ratios and low mill rates typically results in effective tax rates well under 0.6% of market value for residential properties.
Payment & Assessment
Wyoming property taxes are paid in two equal installments: First half: Due November 10 Second half: Due May 10 of the following year A penalty of 1.5% per month applies to late payments.
